Late. Supreet Kaur

Supreet Kaur was the epitome of health and fitness. She was an inspiration to so many women, always promoting healthy living and being physically active. She motivated young girls to play sports and you could see her passion especially when she was in her element, on a netball court.

She was a member of the PCSC club for over 10 years and a valuable team member in the PCSC netball team. She was a feared opposition on a netball court.

Her love for netball began in Sydney and continued to grow when her family moved to Perth during her primary school days; playing with the Atwell Sports club. Her passion led her to expand her skills to such an ability that she gained several awards in netball (including MVP at the Sikh Games).

She would play nearly every night with various netball clubs/teams and umpire too. There wasn’t a day that Supreet would decline an invitation to play a netball game. Anyone that knew or that played with Supreet would agree she was one of the toughest players to play against.

Supreet was also a high achiever, completing her Bachelors of Engineering and Commerce degree and securing a job with John Holland straight after graduating. Supreet was one to step outside her comfort zone whether it was in her personal development or work projects. She completed her early career years working on a FIFO roster and was often known to brighten up her workplace with her warm smile and kind nature. She not only excelled in her career, but also had a passion for the betterment of the community. Along with full time work, Supreet had completed a personal training course which she intended to use by providing free workout classes for all ages within the Sikh and wider community.

In honor of her legacy, the ‘Supreet Cup Netball tournament’ took place at Curtin Stadium, Perth in December 2018. This annual tournament was a huge success, keeping her passions alive and bringing together the community to have fun in the enjoyable spirit that she would have done. The tournament truly lived up to the name of our dear friend, sister and loved daughter, Supreet.

In the spirit of continuing Supreet’s legacy of healthy lifestyle and supporting her community, a netball scholarship has been created to help an individual who is enthusiastic and eager to grow their netball talent. This scholarship is open to all netball players participating at the Sikh games, 2019 in Melbourne. The scholarship is sponsored by the parents of late Supreet Kaur.
