Dear Club Managers and Athletes,
March has arrived and that means the Australian Sikh Games are just a few weeks away. We have more than 160 teams registered and over 2,500 athletes will be at the event. This is an update on what will happen in the period between now and the Games in terms of draws, team sheets and other matters.
We have finalised most of the draws now and will progressively release these on the website within the coming few days. We will aim to have every draw published by Friday 9 March. The Sports Coordinators will also email the draw directly to each team in their sport.
Here are the details of our Sports Coordinators if you need to contact them: www.anssacc.org/pages/sydney-committee2018.
Preliminary team sheets can now be submitted via the website. While the deadline varies by sport (e.g. soccer is 14 days prior to the tournament), it will make it easier for everyone if you submit these as soon as possible. Based on feedback we are no longer collecting license or passport details. However, we are progressively moving to an ID card system. So at the Games this year, for certain sports we will be taking player photos and confirming IDs so that we can print and issue these cards. If you are in doubt about the eligibility of any of your players then read the rules for your sport on the website or contact your Sports Coordinator. Please remember that any player can be asked to prove their eligibility during the Games.
Final team sheets will be due by 6pm at the Manager's on Thursday 29 March (venue to be confirmed). Here is the link for team sheet submission: www.anssacc.org/sydney2018/team-sheet-form.
A complimentary shuttle service will be provided from Sydney Airport to the major hotels in the Bankstown area. You must book this service well in advance. We will do our best to schedule a pick up close to your flight arrival time. But please understand that the service depends on demand and availability of buses, so you might have to wait for a scheduled service. It is important that you do not leave this until the last minute. Try to give us a week or two notice.
Buses will be operating between the main hotels (listed on the website) and the sports venues. If you have a large group then it will be best to make a booking for this service as well. Shuttle buses will also be running between the Crest Sporting Complex and Bankstown Indoor Stadium (no bookings required).

Two junior scholarships of $1,000 each are available for one boy and one girl this year. This will be an ongoing initiative and is a great way to recognise and promote the young talent within our community.
Applications close on Friday 23 March and can be made through this link: www.anssacc.org/about/junior-scholarships.
We have made some exciting changes to the event schedule this year, some of which reflect ANSSACC's increasing focus on cultural aspects. While there will not be a large scale Opening Ceremony like in prior years, there will be an Official Welcome ceremony on Saturday from 11am to 1pm at the main ground. The Flag Raising Ceremony and Ardas will still take place as per normal on Friday morning for those interested. Trophies and medals will be presented at the main ground on Sunday afternoon. There will be no official Dinner Dance this year.
The showcase off-field activity this year is the Cultural Night on Friday 30 March. This will be a family extravaganza filed with Dance, Drama and Music, held at the King's School in North Parramatta. Tickets are available now for $25. Food will be available for purchase at the event.
The Gurmat Sangeet Tour which has been touring the country makes its way to Sydney on Thursday night at Revesby Gurduwara and Saturday night at Glenwood Sikh Temple. The tour is being funded through community donations so your support would be most helpful .

This will be the third year of ANSSACC's drug testing program and you should make yourself and your players familiar with the rules and procedures. Random testing will be conducted in Sydney across multiple sports on each day. It is a condition of your registration that all players, coaches and managers in your team must cooperate with the independent company appointed to run these tests.

Annual General Meeting
The AGM will move to Sunday morning from 8am to 10am at the Rydges Hotel conference room. We will be introducing ANSSACC's long-term vision for the Games and hope that a representative from your club can join the discussion. The new time is based on feedback and allows more people to take part in the evening events.
Thank you and please contact your Sports Coordinator if you have any questions.
